Perfect skin is the most desired element of
beauty. While you are
planning
your big day don't forget to pay special attention to
your skin.
Flawless
skin is not easy to achieve so don’t procrastinate.
Start early and follow
through. Here are some industry secrets to
help
you get the skin you’ve
been desiring.
Health & Wellness
You are what you eat. Pay attention to your diet, avoid
caffeine and
high fat foods.
Nourish your body with a multivitamin formulated for women.
Nourish your skin from the inside out. Start taking
antioxidants such as
Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C Ester,
and DMAE. Antioxidants combat free
radical
damage that can cause premature aging and lackluster skin
Drink at least 640zs of water daily. The general rule of
thumb is to drink
half your body weight in fluid ounces. Unfortunately, iced tea and
Gatorade do not count.
Drink 1-2 cups of green tea daily. Green tea detoxifies the
body and
has been rumored to speed up the metabolism.
Beauty
Start collecting pictures of looks you’d like to achieve on
the big day.
Be sure to consult with a makeup artist and book your
appointments
in advance especially if you are getting married
during the popular months.
Bring a camera to your trial for both makeup and hair.
Wear white for your makeup trial so you can get the full effect.
Avoid dark lipsticks on your wedding day if you plan to take
black &
white photography. Dark colors will show up brown in
this type of photo.
Skin Care
Start going for facials every 4-6 weeks. A deep cleansing,
exfoliation and
a hydrating masque will leave your skin glowing
and healthy.
Do not pick your pimples leave it to the professionals.
Picking can cause
scarring and hyper-pigmentation (discoloration
of the skin).
The last facial before the big day should not include
extractions as this may
irritate you. A mini facial with a
hydrating masque will prime your skin for
a flawless makeup application.
Stick to a strict skin care regimen at home; which should
include a gentle
cleanser pH balanced to your skin, a non
alcohol based toner, a moisturizer
formulated for your skin with
an SPF of at least 15 and an eye cream to
hydrate under the
eyes.
Do not do anything extreme to your skin and hair as the
wedding gets closer,
you may regret it.
If you plan to tan, experiment with a self-tanner first. If
you must use a tanning bed (which I urge you against) apply a
sunscreen with a SPF 15 to your face
and body. The UVA and UVB
rays in a tanning bed are more harmful to the
skin than those of
the sun. The safest option is to purchase a bronzer to give
you that sun kissed glow you want without the risk.
Last but certainly not least, don’t stress the small stuff.
Have fun and enjoy your special day! |
